Baptism
Baptism is the first and foundation of all the Sacraments by which we receive the Divine Life of God within us by the Holy Spirit, and become sons and daughters of God the Father, sharing in the life of His Church.
The Sacrament of Baptism
“And Jesus came and said to the apostles, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the close of the age.”
Matthew 28:18-20
What is Baptism?
Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to the life in the Spirit (vitae spiritualis ianua), and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission.

Baptism for your child
It’s vital that parents wishing their child to be baptised are in the practice of their faith and are bringing their children to Mass every week.
Part of the promises parents make on behalf of their children at Baptism is to ‘accept the responsibility in training them in the practice of the faith’ (Rite of Baptism).
This is not an easy task, however with God’s help and the support of your own family and parish community, parents will be able to live out this promise to God.
If you would like your child to receive this Sacrament, please speak to Fr Denney at the end of Mass and he will be happy to help and guide you regarding the arrangements and practicalities of the Sacrament of Baptism.
